Metro Detroit thrill seekers who wish the winter holidays were more like Halloween are in luck.
Erebus, Pontiac’s four-story scare attraction, is hosting its first-ever “Nightmare After Christmas.”
On Dec. 26 and 27, the attraction is inviting visitors to step into a winter nightmare of twisted elves, cursed cheer and full-intensity terror. As guests descend the tower, the temperature drops, creating an ice-cold, high-intensity haunt where the screams won’t just be heard, but also seen, according to a news release from Erebus.
Visitors can choose to be on the nice list, grabbing a green glow stick for a calmer, family-friendly walk-through, or choose the naughty list for a scarier experience by not picking a glow stick.
The attraction is just over a half-mile walk inside, and the average group takes about 35-45 minutes to make it through, according to the website. There are emergency exits throughout the attraction, though no reentry or refunds will be given to people who exit early.
General admission to the post-Christmas event costs $35. Erebus’s Haunt with a Heart is partnering with metro Detroit charities and giving Erebus visitors who bring a donation of canned goods, coats, gloves, hats or pet food $5 off entry at the door, according to Erebus’s website.
The early bird sale using code B3G1 gives one free ticket when you buy three, according to a news release from Erebus.
