LA CROSSE, Wis. — It was only a year ago that Petoskey’s Alison Bailey was setting records on the high school track.
The 2025 Petoskey High School graduate ended her standout track and field career with a foot in three school records.
Now, a year later, Bailey’s first collegiate season ends with a program record as well.
Competing with the Calvin University women’s track and field team, Bailey helped the 4×100 meter relay team to a program record and All-America finish at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on Saturday, May 23.
Bailey, along with grad student Sydney Radigan, senior Mia DeJonge and freshman Rayn Rutley ran a time of 46.29 seconds, placing seventh in DIII, which was good enough for All-America honors (top eight) and a new Calvin record.
“The 4×100 was extremely competitive this year and I’m pleased with the performance of our relay today,” Calvin head track and field coach Adam Haldorson said in a release. “They did a great job of working together under pressure and coming home with a top-eight finish. I also want to acknowledge Kaitlyn DiMaggio, who has been a part of the relay for most of the year and was at the ready if she was needed. It was a team effort that got the relay to this conclusion.”
The Calvin women earned a fourth place overall finish in Division III at at the championships, with Radigan earning national titles in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
Bailey’s big first season at Calvin also came with a season-best 57.93 in the 400 meter run, the best time by a Calvin athlete this season in the event.
She placed third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) for the season in the 400. She also ran a personal best in the 200 in 25.49 seconds and set a new personal best in the 100 in 12.52 seconds.
Her 200 meter dash time placed her fourth in the conference and she was the lone freshman to qualify for the conference finals race in the event.
While at Petoskey, Bailey broke a 33-year record in the 200 with a time of 25.70 seconds, then was part of school records in the 4×100 and 4×200.
