After a recent grand opening celebration of Patty & Press Smashburgers in Shelby Township, the burger joint’s owners announced an expansion with another – and larger – metro Detroit location.
A Patty & Press flagship store is scheduled to open later this year at 42983 Woodward Ave. in Bloomfield Township. This location is a former Zoup! Spot. At more than 1,700 square feet, this new spot will accommodate 24 seats for dining in, compared to eight seats at its carryout-heavy Shelby Township location.
On Thursday, May 28, the owners will celebrate their forthcoming expansion and International Burger Day with a smash-burger deal offered at the Shelby Township store.
From 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Patty & Press single Classic Smashes are $5 (regular $8.25), and Double Classic Smashes are $8 (regulars $11.25) each. There is no limit.
Patty & Press owners tout their smash burgers’ 100% grass-fed custom beef blend as “better-for-you.” From the owners of Naked Burger in Clinton Township, Goran Dimic and Brandon Gorgies, founders of G&B Hospitality, Naked Burger is known for its award-winning truffle burger. The first Patty & Press at 52300 Van Dyke in Shelby Township softly opened in late December and celebrated its grand opening in March.
“The amazing response in Shelby Township proved that people are craving real, additive-free food at an everyday price,” co-founder Brandon Gorgies said in a news release. “Moving to Woodward is about expanding that accessibility. We’re taking the same standards we’re known for — no seed oils, 100% grass-fed beef, frying in beef tallow fryers, local sourcing — and putting it in a flagship space that can handle the demand of the Woodward corridor.”
All of Patty & Press mayos and sauces are scratch-made with avocado and olive oil. Buns for its burgers are custom-made milk bread from Center Line’s Rising Stars Academy, and their artisan American cheese comes from the New School American Cheese.
“We’ve spent our professional lives perfecting a model where we don’t have to compromise on the ingredients we serve our own families,” says Chef-Partner Goran Dimic. “Whether you’re at the original Shelby spot or the upcoming Woodward flagship, the goal is the same: the cleanest burger in Michigan at a price that actually makes sense.”
Patty & Press also features fried and grilled chicken sandwiches and fries with various toppings, including truffle and loaded fries. For menus and ordering, visit pattyandpress.com.
