HASLETT — A 12,000-square-foot sports facility under construction off Lansing Road has secured its first tenant.

All-Star Cheer and Tumbling team and World Tour Cheer & Tumble will occupy 7,000 square feet of the facility being built at 8416 Lansing Road, according to Nancy Gofis, a spokesperson for Colliers. The commercial real estate agency represented the business in the lease.

World Tour Cheer & Tumble will relocate from 1860 W. Grand River Ave. to the new facility when it’s finished in August, Gofis said in an email.

It’s unclear what will occupy the rest of the building.

“This is a new development, currently being constructed and designed for cheer on one side and basketball on the other,” Gofis said.

World Tour Cheer & Tumble, founded in 2019, offers “foundational tumbling instruction” and hosts competitive cheer teams, according to a news release.

The business announced plans to move to a new facility in late March. In a Facebook post, the new location was described as “state of the art,” a custom build that will include “two full spring floors, a 30 foot Tumbl Trak, and a tumble area for bigs and littles…all of which enable us to hold more classes and practices, have larger teams, and provide more unique opportunities to the athletes in our community!”

The space will also feature “a fully dedicated athlete locker room, separate athlete and public restrooms, a brand new professional lobby and pro shop, and a parent/sibling room complete with TVs and a kitchenette,” according to the post.

The new facility space is unique “because the building was purposely designed around the needs of a cheer program, something that’s rare in this space,” said Nicole Wiseman, senior associate at Colliers Lansing. “Many cheer gyms operate out of industrial buildings that aren’t constructed for their specific needs. I was thrilled to help my client secure a location that was thoughtfully suited to their program, allows them to continue serving their athletes, and provides room for future growth.”
