New Lions RB 'dying' to lead Detroit to Super Bowl stage

As the Detroit Lions arrived for their first day of offseason workouts, the organization shared a sneak peek into the franchise’s offseason with the first 2026 installment of its Inside the Den series.

At the tail end of the 36-minute behind-the-scenes feature, new Lions free agent running back signing Isiah Pacheco shared his excitement to be in the Motor City.

And he said he’s not satisfied after having gone to three Super Bowls and winning two of them with the Kansas City Chiefs.

“It felt like home the second I stepped in the doors,” Pacheco said of arriving in Detroit. “I went to three Super Bowls, but I’m unsatisfied. I’m hungry and I’m dying to get back in that environment, especially with this crew here that’s never done it and I want to set history.

“We’re going to challenge each other in that room. We’re going to compete. Every day we’re going to get better. That’s what it’s about. Building competition in the room to make each other better. And it’s going to be fun.”

Pacheco won’t need to be the bell cow back for the Lions. Detroit already has three-time Pro Bowler Jahmyr Gibbs in its backfield, so maybe that can help free Pacheco up to rediscover the play he enjoyed in his first two seasons.

Pacheco, a 5-foot-10, 216-pound back out of Rutgers, ran for 1,765 yards and 12 touchdowns during his first two regular seasons in KC.
