New Jersey man found guilty of harassing Bloomfield Twp. official

A New Jersey man was convicted of using a computer in 2023 to harass a Bloomfield Township official and others via email, officials said.

An Oakland County Circuit Court jury on Tuesday found Marc William Aisen guilty of using a computer to commit a crime and unlawful posting of messages, the county prosecutor’s office said.

The 50-year-old is scheduled to be sentenced on June 9, according to court records. He faces up to four years in prison for using a computer to commit a crime and up to two years for unlawful posting of messages.

Aisen’s attorney, Scott Christopher Kozak, was not immediately available for comment on Wednesday.

Authorities alleged Aisen began emailing a Bloomfield Township official in July 2023, making baseless child sexual exploitation accusations against a Boston-based Jewish organization.

Officials said when Aisen did not get a response, he emailed other officials, as well as the victim’s ex-wife, and accused him of covering up abuse on public message boards.

Prosecutors said he emailed more than 100 recipients, including the victim’s children’s school, on Oct. 9, 2023, and accused him of covering up abuse and being affiliated with Hamas, the militant organization recognized by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization and the ruling party of Gaza.

Aisen was charged in December 2023.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald praised the jury’s decision to render a guilty verdict in the case.

“False accusations of child abuse are among the oldest and most disgusting antisemitic tropes,” she said in a statement. “A jury unanimously concluded that Marc Aisen’s behavior was not free speech. It crossed the line into criminal harassment.”
