Nearly 70 trunk-or-treats and fall, Halloween events in Monroe County this October

Nearly 70 Halloween and fall events will be offered in Monroe County and nearby areas this October. Among the offerings are five trick-or-treat events and 13 trunk-or-treats.

Several of the events feature the Lake Eerie Hexenbrut, the popular local troop of dancing witches. Based on a group in Germany, Lake Eerie Hexenbrut was founded by Monroe choreographer Valinda Jonas. The women create their own outfits, which include pointy hats and long skirts. They carry brooms and lanterns and perform flash mob-styled dances, according to Monroe News archives.

Also set for October is Oct. 25’s Haunted Tour of Milan. Visitors will ride in Golden Limousine’s trolley bus and hear spooky stories.

“’The Storyteller’ will weave chilling ghost tales interlaced with real, spine-tingling history from Milan’s past,” said Josh Kofflin, vice president of Moving Milan Forward.

Haunted Tour is part of Moving Milan Forward’s Halloween Party Fundraiser, which will include food trucks and live music.

Here’s a look at many other events set for October. Most events are free. Some events require registration; visit each event’s website for details.
