Monroe County deputies investigating reports of person firing gun out of vehicle

BERLIN TOWNSHIP — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the reckless discharge of a firearm.

On Tuesday, June 3, at 11:15 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 4000 block of South Huron River Drive in response to a 911 call. The caller said that a vehicle was passing through the area when an occupant fired a gun eight times. The caller provided a description of the car and the direction of travel.

While canvassing the area, deputies found a vehicle matching the description in the 14000 block of Chamberlin Road. They found evidence inside consistent with involvement in the incident. The vehicle’s owner was questioned at the scene and released later.

No residents in the area reported damage to their property or being targeted during the incident. The motive for the firearm discharge remains unknown as of Wednesday, June 4.
