Michigan State football is back on the board, winning a big time recruiting battle to land one of the state of Michigan’s best prospects. Detroit (MI) Martin Luther King High School standout Don Spillers has committed to the Spartans.
At 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, Spillers had opportunities to play both safety and wide receiver at the next level, and will be going to East Lansing as a defensive back. The Spartans beat out a final three that included Illinois and Louisville to earn the commitment of Spillers. He held additional offers from Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Pitt and Purdue.
A 3-star prospect, he ranks as the No. 13 prospect in the state of Michigan according to 247Sports. He becomes the 15th commit in the Michigan State class that should break into the top-40 of the rankings with the big time in-state commitment.
