Michigan State basketball guard Jase Richardson snubbed from NBA Draft green room

The 2025 NBA Draft begins Wednesday, June 25, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It is expected to reveal to Spartan Nation where Michigan State star freshman Jase Richardson will begin his professional career.

Unfortunately for Richardson, he has not been invited by the NBA to attend the draft in the green room. According to a report from Jonathan Givony (Draft Express on X), 24 players have been invited to the green room for the NBA Draft. These are players the league, based on feedback from its teams, is very confident will be drafted in the first round.

The fact Richardson is not among them comes as a surprise. He has been routinely mocked in the mid to high teens. Yet, the league tries to avoid having one of two players left in the green room long after everyone else has been selected or beyond the first round. It is bad optics for the league and puts an unwanted spotlight on those remaining in the green room. The message the lack of an invite sends is shocking. We’ll have to wait to see if the message is accurate.
