Michigan football's 2027 recruiting class cracks top 10

It wasn’t so long ago that Michigan football was sitting at around the No. 30 region in the team rankings according to the recruiting sites — only a few weeks ago, if that. But then, new head coach Kyle Whittingham went on something of a tear, bringing in five commitments in six days last week, and continuing to add to the class before official visit season descends upon Ann Arbor.

And the hot hand continued, with the Wolverines landing 2027 Grand Rapids (Mich.) Kenowa Hills three-star athlete Lundon Hampton, who previously had appeared to be a strong Michigan State lean.

With the addition of Hampton, Michigan now has 13 commitments in the 2027 class, and has officially moved up into the top 10.

Starting with 247Sports, the Wolverines moved up from No. 12 in the composite rankings to No. 10 proper. In doing so, the maize and blue leapt over Kentucky and Oregon. In the Big Ten, they are ranked behind No. 5 USC, No. 6 UCLA, No. 8 Penn State, and No. 9 Ohio State.

Rivals had Michigan at No. 11, and unlike with 247Sports, it remains No. 11.

Here are the commits in the class, ranked by the Rivals Industry Rankings:
