Michigan commit Kamden Lopati finds rhythm at Elite 11

The Elite 11 is well underway, with day two now in the books. And Michigan football quarterback commit Kamden Lopati is doing what he can to be officially named among the nation’s elite.

Lopati was ranked eighth on Rivals after day one on Friday, but wasn’t in the top 11 from the Elite 11’s official rankings. Perhaps there will be something of a reverse course, as Lopati also wasn’t in the rankings from Rivals’ Saturday night evaluations. And this, despite having a similar statline and trajectory as some of the others who were ranked.

Per reports, Lopati struggled at the outset but then settled in nicely. Here’s the live report from Rivals’ Adam Gorney. (subscription required)

After three off-target throws early in the round, Michigan four-star commit Kamden Lopati dialed it in and nailed each of his last 12 throws. Overall, he was on target on 17 of his 20 balls, tied for the top mark so far this evening.

“Lopati doing phenomenally well down the stretch with some beautiful throws. Was struggling with some deep throws — either overthrows or too much air — but he tightened up.” — Adam Gorney

CBS Sports’ Bud Elliott was also on hand and managed to get some video of Lopati going through some of the drills in day two.

There’s one final day remaining of the Elite 11. We’ll see if he can muster a big performance and rise in the rankings. Even if he doesn’t, he’s surely done enough to get a rankings bump on 247Sports, the only outlet that has him inexplicably listed as a three-star.
