A family-owned beer, wine and liquor store has officially opened on Holland’s southside.
Mega-Bev opened its ninth Michigan store Feb. 9 after transforming the former Rite Aid at 973 Washington Ave. Scott Niecko, the brand’s owner, said the community response has been extremely positive.
“It’s really rewarding to see people’s faces when they come in,” Niecko said. “They’re just amazed at the size and selection, and everyone so far has been excited and so welcoming.”
The renovated storefront is stocked with over 15,000 selections of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
“We have the largest selection of alcohol in the state of Michigan,” Niecko said. “We have lots of beer, wine and liquor — and if we don’t have it, you just have to ask and we’ll do our best to get it for you.”
The family-owned business launched in an 800-square-foot space in 1995. Over the years, the brand has grown or purchased thirteen stores and sold five. There are current locations in Battle Creek, Marshall, Portage, Kalamazoo, Hastings, Lansing and Grand Rapids.
The new store is open 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays.
