ZEELAND TWP. — The Zeeland Township Board interviewed four candidates for interim manager Aug. 5, and are expected to choose a finalist during a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10.
The decision comes as current manager Josh Eggleston prepares to leave for the same role in Holland Township. In July, officials formed a transition team comprising legal counsel, Eggleston and Supervisor Kerri Bosma.
Trustees previously said they want an interim manager who is task-oriented, communicates well, provides honest feedback and has proven leadership experience.
Once a candidate is selected, officials intend to approve an interim manager agreement during a second special meeting Aug. 13.
Those interviewed include:
Tony Graff
Graff has more than 25 years of public service experience, primarily in Illinois. He’s served as interim manager in Crest Hill, Illinois, and Menominee, Michigan, as well as interim police chief in Morrison, Illinois.
“I’ve learned to work with staff, but also (policymakers and board members),” he said Aug. 5.
Howard Fink
Fink served as manager of Park Township from January 2017 through August 2025.
In that time, he oversaw planning and the initial construction process for Park Township Community Park, helped the municipality secure a $4.7 million insurance settlement after a fire at the former Park Township Community Center and supported a pilot road diet project on Ottawa Beach Road between 144th and 160th avenues.
“An interim manager is somebody who’s creating and working toward identifying a positive culture,” Fink said Aug. 5. “A new manager isn’t there to make any drastic changes.”
Fink applied for the manager position in Laketown Township in 2025. According to his resume, Fink recently served as interim administrator for the Kalamazoo Lake Sewer Water Authority from November 2025 to February 2026.During his interview, Fink said he’s interested in the permanent role.
“I’m interested in the interim and I’m interested in a long-term continuation,” he said. “I want you all to know that I’m not here just wanting a six-month position. … I live in this area and we’re not moving.”
David Trent
For over two decades, Trent has served in local government in Salem Township — including time as clerk and trustee.
“The reason I feel I would be a good fit for this community is my background in government,” Trent said Aug. 5. “I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience because I’ve been able to understand the roles of councilmembers and staff.”
Trent previously served as manager and zoning administrator in Almont, manager and DDA executive director in Grass Lake, and manager in Ortonville. He is also interested in the permanent role.
Nate Geinzer
Geinzer is founder and CEO of Double Haul Solutions. He proposed serving as interim manager while offering other organizational support through Double Haul. He’s provided similar services in Traverse City, Berkley and Port Huron.
