As Connor Robertson enters the final year of his college career, he could be adding to his trophy case. The Texas native earned a spot on the preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy. Each year the honor is given to the best center in college football. For the Longhorns veteran, the honor comes as no surprise.
During his time in the burnt orange, the Westlake High alum has appeared in 30 games and made eight starts. Last season, Robertson appeared in every game, making eight starts at center. While the Longhorns’ offensive line dealt with inconsistency, Robertson was a bright spot, especially as wins were at a premium.
With Thursday’s honor, Robertson joined special company. He is the first player in program history to earn a spot on the list since Jake Majors two years ago. As Robertson tries to make history, he will face plenty of competition.
The watch list features 40 centers from across the nation. His competition includes Kilian O’Connor, Landen Hatchett, Michael Hershey, and Jake Renfro. That will not be an easy group to outplay, but Robertson showed during the 2025 campaign that with more snaps, he can take his game to another level.
While Robertson will be focused on helping Texas win a national title, he will also be keeping an eye on how voting for the Rimington Trophy plays out. During the season, more players could be added, but Robertson is in a position to get the majority of the snaps at center. That should put him in a good position to add to his trophy case.
Regardless of how voting plays out, a memorable 2026 campaign could be in store for Robertson and the rest of the Longhorns’ offense.
