Mackinac Bridge reopens after closing for falling ice

The Mackinac Bridge has reopened after closing to traffic earlier Saturday, March 14 due to ice falling from bridge cables and towers, according to the Mackinac Bridge Authority.

The northern Michigan bridge, which connects the state’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas, has been closed intermittently throughout the week due to falling ice.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the bridge area to allow maintenance vehicles to operate.

The bridge has closed several times in recent weeks for falling ice and weather conditions.
