The Detroit Lions on Wednesday added some competition and size to their receiving corps, signing veteran Cedrick Wilson Jr.
Wilson, listed at 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds, was a sixth-round draft pick out of Boise State in 2018. He’s made professional stops with the Dallas Cowboys (2018-21), Miami Dolphins (2022-23, 2025) and New Orleans Saints (2024). Wilson caught five passes for 44 yards, including three first downs, as a member of the Dolphins last season.
With the Cowboys in 2021, Wilson recorded career-high marks across the board, tallying 602 yards and six touchdowns on 45 receptions. Wilson, 30, has a career average of 12.1 yards per catch across 93 appearances. He’s hauled in 16 contested catches on 39 opportunities since entering the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.
Wilson’s father, Cedrick Wilson Sr., played with the San Francisco 49ers (2001-04) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2005-07).
The Lions now have 88 players under contract for next season, including 10 receivers. Other receivers on Detroit’s roster include Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Isaac TeSlaa, Greg Dortch, Kendrick Law, Dominic Lovett, Jackson Meeks, Tom Kennedy and Malik Cunningham.
TeSlaa (6-4), Meeks (6-2) and Wilson (6-2) are the only receivers listed at 6-2 or taller.
