BRIGHTON — A new fast-casual hibachi eatery opened July 20 at the former Happy Taco in Brighton.
Kazoku — which means “family” in Japanese — is located at 9912 E. Grand River Ave. and owned by Israel Quintero, who also owns La Finca Tacos in Genoa Township.
The new restaurant has already seen quite a few customers, drawn by a menu that features hibachi entrees with teriyaki chicken or tofu, shrimp, steak, filet mignon and salmon.
The restaurant’s appetizers include shrimp tempura, garlic edamame, spring rolls, crab meat cheese, spicy chicken bites, ginger salad, pork gyoza and miso soup. The menu also includes rice and noodle dishes, sushi rolls, and burritos that combine hibachi ingredients into a tortilla.
Quintero has been cooking hibachi for more than 25 years, and is excited to return to the cuisine. He hopes to expand the business in the future, depending on how the location performs, and plans to break into catering.
Kazoku is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays and 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Sundays. Learn more under Kazoku Hibachi Express on Facebook.
