The Inland Lakes football team has been voted by readers as the Daily Tribune’s 2024-25 area high school sports team of the year after a poll that opened Monday and closed on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs won the poll by capturing 57.4 percent of the vote, while Cheboygan boys basketball was second with 15.38 percent.

Here were the nominees:
Cheboygan Boys Basketball – Guided by coach Jason Friday, the Chiefs returned to relevance last season, winning 17 games and reaching the district final.
Inland Lakes Football – Coach Travis Meyer’s Bulldogs had another banner year, finishing 11-1 with a second consecutive regional title, a fourth straight Ski Valley championship, and a second consecutive trip to the 8-player state semifinals.
Inland Lakes Girls Basketball – The Daryl Vizina-led Bulldogs finished second in the Ski Valley Conference, won a third consecutive district crown, and reached the regional final.
Onaway Volleyball – Under coach Steve Watson, the Cardinals finished 33-9-2 and won the Ski Valley Conference title with a perfect 9-0 record.
Onaway Softball – Delivering a memorable second half run were coach Lonny Metty’s Cardinals, who earned a first district title since 2019 and reached the regional final.
Burt Lake NMCA Girls Basketball – History was made by the NMCA girls, who captured the program’s first district title under coach Josh Ferraiuolo.
