How much hot weather will Michigan see this summer? What long-term predictions say

Temperatures in Michigan reached the upper 90s last week, leaving Michiganders wondering, will the rest of the summer be this hot?

According to long-range forecasts from the National Weather Service, Old Farmer’s Almanac and the Farmers’ Almanac, summer 2025 will be hot, humid and full of thunder.

As summer arrived, Michigan last week experienced its first summer heat wave, with locations across the state setting records.

The Farmers’ Almanac describes summer 2025 as “sultry and thunder-filled” for the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Midwest.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has a similar take, saying the summer of 2025 is shaping up to be hot and rainy across the Great Lakes area. Expect hotter-than-normal temperatures across most of the U.S., with above-normal precipitation in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

Additionally, the National Weather Service predicts that for June, July, and August, there is a 33% to 40% chance of above-normal temperatures across most of Michigan. Precipitation, meanwhile, could be about normal.

Michiganders who were expecting cooler temps in the coming weeks may have to wait until the fall.
