COLDWATER TWP., MI — Expect stop-and-go traffic both north and southbound on I-69 through Friday, Nov. 21, for power line construction.
Michigan State Police are stopping traffic for about 15 minutes between the Fenn Road Exit 13 and the Coldwater Exit 10 every 15 minutes during the day while ITC, the power grid operator, strings high-voltage lines across the interstate.
The operation caught law enforcement by surprise on Wednesday morning, according to Central Dispatch radio traffic.
Contractors provided MDOT numbers and notices.
The work is part of the replacement of high-voltage lines scheduled between Jackson and Coldwater, much of it along railroad right-of-way, with other sections south of the city.
