One of the Great Lakes’ most recognizable beer brands and a Michigan social media influencer are teaming up for a short tour that celebrates the traditions of the Midwest.
Bell’s Brewery and Old Time Hawkey are bringing the “Catch You There” tour to six venues, including Midtown’s Old Miami. The Cass Corridor dive bar, 3930 Cass in Detroit, is known as a veteran hangout, local music venue and a place where Detroiters from all walks of life can kick back and enjoy the warmer days in its spacious backyard.
The tour, which is sponsored by Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, is “a lineup of beloved pastimes” hosted by Old Time Hawkey. According to promotional materials, the stops include trivia, euchre games, pull tabs and “meat raffles.”
“This tour was born from our love of the Midwest, its iconic, deeply rooted heritage and a shared desire to create spaces for meaningful moments for both new and old friends,” said Bell’s brand manager Erica Vitkin in a press release. “Our continued partnership with Old Time Hawkey, who brings our Two Hearted spokestrout to life with his distinctive voice, celebrates the hard-working ethos and unmistakable personality of the region.”
Based in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Old Time Hawkey is online content creator Fritz and his two dogs, Donnybrook and Kris Draper. They have 3.6 million followers on Instagram alone. (That’s more than British tourists Josh & Jase have on the same platform, for comparison’s sake.)
