If you’re a fan of sliders, the small, handheld burgers, get ready for a special treat.
National Slider Day is Friday, May 15. The day originated with White Castle, the famous slider chain.
White Castle is celebrating by giving customers a free slider on Friday.
There is no purchase necessary, and customers can use a digital coupon available on White Castle’s website or its social media sites. Customers with the White Castle app can enter the code “SLIDERDAY” to redeem the offer.
White Castle introduced National Slider Day in 2015 to honor its original steamed slider with onions. Introduced more than 100 years ago, the White Castle sliders are famous for their 2-by-2-inch size, making them easy to eat. Over the years, its menu has grown to include more varieties.
In 2014, Time magazine called White Castle’s slider “the most influential burger of all time,” according to White Castle.
“National Slider Day is one of our favorite traditions because it gives us a chance to recognize the Original Slider — the little burger that not only made White Castle famous but also helped launch the fast-food industry,” said Jamie Richardson, chief marketing officer at White Castle.
Family-owned and based in Columbus, Ohio, White Castle operates more than 330 restaurants nationwide as well as a retail side that sells its products in grocery stores.
More slider celebrations
Metro Detroit fast food chain Savvy Sliders is also celebrating National Slider Day with a special deal. All day long, in-store and online, customers can order three of its classic sliders or fried chicken sliders for $7.99. Savvy Sliders, depending on location, start at $3.49. There’s a limit of two orders per customer.
Savvy Sliders first got its start in 2018, opening its first location in Commerce Township. The fast-growing chain now includes 36 locations throughout Michigan, plus others in Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas. For locations, go to savvysliders.com.
