National Hamburger Day is Thursday, May 28 and several businesses like Checkers in Monroe will be celebrating with upcoming burger deals.
The restaurant located at 808 N. Telegraph Road is offering guests a buy one, get one free classic burger on May 27 and 28. The burger comes topped with lettuce, pickles, red onion, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise on a toasted bun.
“I’m excited to offer this buy one, get one free classic burger deal in honor of National Hamburger Day. This promotion celebrates the tremendous impact the hamburger industry has had on American culture,” said Jason Amell, franchisee owner. “What started as a simple sandwich has become a true staple in our diets and a beloved part of our everyday lives.”
Amell said the deal is a way to give back to the community.
“I’ve been with the brand since we converted the original Hot N’ Now Hamburger restaurant into a Checkers, and I’ve seen firsthand the loyalty and support our customers have shown us over the years,” he said. “This aggressive BOGO offer is our way of saying thank you to every patron who has helped make us successful.”
Gearing up to celebrate National Hamburger Day, we asked Monroe News readers on Facebook for places to grab their favorite burger. Local eateries suggested were LaSalle Bar in LaSalle, Larson’s Bar and Leo’s Coney Island , both in Monroe and Verna’s Bar & Grill in Newport.
Along with checking your favorite local restaurants for deals, here is how some national chains are celebrating:
Burger King
Burger King rewards members can get a free hamburger with any purchase of $3 or more at participating Burger King restaurants nationwide on May 28.
Dairy Queen
If you are a Dairy Queen reward member you can get $1 off any Signature Stackburger through Sunday, May 31, at participating Grill & Chill locations.
Sonic Drive-In
Sonic Drive-In reward members can get a free burger with any $5 or more purchase and 50% off a small classic shake. The deal is until May 31 through the Sonic app.
Wendy’s
From May 28 -June 1, junior bacon cheeseburgers are 1-cent with any purchase using the Wendy’s app.
