Region lands 10 players on All-State teams for baseball and softball

There were plenty of gems on the diamond for Monroe County Region teams this spring.

Ten Region baseball and softball players have been named first-team All-State by state coaches associations for their sports.

Seven of them came in baseball where Asher Simmons (first base) and Carson Liedel (infield) of Monroe were honored in Division 1 and Cash Moczydlowsky (pitcher) and Noah Banas (infield) made the grade in Division 2.

St. Mary Catholic Central’s Lukas Linzell (catcher) and Whiteford’s Tre Eitniear (infield) were Division 3 honorees.

Reece Kalb of Summerfield (pitcher) was selected in Division 4.

Airport’s softball team had a pair of All-Staters in Division 2 – second baseman Olivia Tilley and utility player Brityn Duffy.

Kaitlyn Kwiatkowski of made the Division 1 team as an outfielder.

Earning spots on the honorable mention list were Bedford’s Maddy Kwiatkowski (shortstop), Brooklyn Martin (first base) and Julia Dyson (pitcher) of Airport, Avy Wood (outfield) and Peyton Welch (pitcher) of Whiteford and Braelyn Runyon (second base) and Hannah Williams (catcher) of St. Mary Catholic Central.

PREP BASEBALL

Riggs, Mason unanimous

BLISSFIELD – Dundee infielder Brayden Mason and Ida catcher Cam Riggs were unanimous choices to the All-Lenawee County Athletic Association team selected by league coaches.

They were joined on the first team by Cam Fairchild (first base) of Dundee and Grant Pfeiffer (infield) and Hunter Hemelgarn (pitcher) of Ida.

Dundee’s Wyatt Hickey and Owen Snyder and Gavin Albring of Ida received honorable mention.

PREP SOFTBALL

Four make All-LCAA

BLISSFIELD – Lilah Derian (infield), Karlee Walentowski (outfield) and Alex Haws (pitcher) of Ida have been named to the All-Lenawee County Athletic Association team along with Dundee’s Abby Marek (outfield).

Amelia McCoy of Ida and Ella Rath of Dundee were honorable mention infielders.

PREP SOCCER

Dundee duo honored

BLISSFIELD – Ryan Straub and Maria Lora-Hernandez of Dundee have earned spots on the All-Lenawee County Athletic Association team selected by league coaches.

Teammates Alison Brandys, Aislyn Waggoner and Lydia Richards were second-team selections along with Aubyn Hamm, Maddie Kreps, and Meira Koepka of Ida.

Ace for Reau

DUNDEE – Dawn Reau of Britton shot her first career hole-in-one June 8 at Dundee Golf Club, using her driver on the 110-yard No. 2 hole.

ADULT SOCCER

Harrington clinches win

MONROE – Christian Harrington scored a goal with a minute left to clinch an 8-6 close win for Heart-N-Pace over Atletico  in the Monroe Adult Coed Indoor Soccer League Sunday night at LevelUp Training.

Drew Siebarth and Mateo Hills each scored two goals for Heart-N-Pace while Tyler Fugate scored three goals and Darrian McCoskey added two goals for Atletico.
