Luea and his wife, Susan, raised and homeschooled nine children, according to a published obituary.

“Peter was an avid fisherman and loved vacationing with his family at his cottage in East Tawas where he enjoyed trail running with his kids, rollerblading, kayaking, working on projects and cross country skiing,” the obituary said. “His goofy and bold sense of humor brought laughter and joy to every situation. Everything he put his mind to he excelled at, but to Peter, being a husband and father was his crowning achievement.”

Luea, who worked at McLaren Greater Lansing Family Medicine North Clinic and lived in Dimondale, was jogging along a road northeast of Grand Rapids on Aug. 4 when he was struck by a pickup truck, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office said.
