The Lansing area will see freezing rain develop early Friday, Dec. 26, with ice accumulations making roads and sidewalks dangerous for travel on Friday morning, the National Weather Service says.
“Freezing rain spreads into Lower Michigan early Friday morning (Dec. 26), before changing to rain from southwest to northeast during the day,” the Grand Rapids National Weather Service said on X on Dec. 23. “One-tenth of an inch or more of ice is possible in some areas. Significant travel impacts are expected, especially Friday morning!”
At least 0.01-0.21 of an inch of ice is predicted to be on the roads and surfaces by Saturday morning, Dec. 26, according to the NWS Probabilistic Precipitation Portal.
