Former Spartan receives mini-camp invite from Los Angeles Chargers

A former Michigan State football defensive back is getting a chance in the NFL.

Western Michigan defensive back Tate Hallock has received a mini-camp invite from the Los Angeles Chargers. Hallock started his career with the Spartans before transferring to Western Michigan for his final three seasons of college football.

Hallock started his career at Michigan State in 2019 and played four seasons with the Spartans, appearing in 17 games. He was granted redshirts for three of the four seasons, though, which left him with the opportunity to play three years at Western Michigan. In total, Hallock appeared in 55 games across seven seasons, recording 231 tackles, nine interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), one fumble recovery and four forced fumbles.

One of the top moments in Hallock’s career was a interception returned for a touchdown against the Spartans this past season.
