Former MSU football kicker commits to new school via transfer portal

A Michigan State football specialist has found his new home via the transfer portal.

Former Spartans redshirt sophomore kicker Tarik Ahmetbasic has committed via the transfer portal to Memphis of the American Athletic Conference. The Tigers announced the signing of Ahmetbasic on Sunday.

Ahmetbasic, who is from Clinton Township, Mich., was in contention for the starting kicker spot this past season but never saw any game action due to an injury. He only appeared in one career game for the Spartans and will have at least two years of eligibility remaining at the college level.

Ahmetbasic entered the transfer portal back in January but it wasn’t until after the spring semester that he found his new team. It’ll be interesting to see him join one of the top group of six programs in the country.
