Flint man found guilty of first-degree murder in Conway Township

The first of two suspects to appear before a jury following the suspicious death of a 25-year-old man in Conway Township in 2025 was found guilty of first-degree murder April 23.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reportedly found an unoccupied, burned 2000 Toyota Camry when responding to an emergency call in March 2025. Several hours later, deputies responded to a death investigation on Robb Road in Conway Township. The victim, who was shot with a firearm, was the registered owner of the Camry.

Aaron Aydelotte, 28, went before a jury April 13-23 in Livingston County’s 44th Circuit Court, overseen by Judge Matthew McGivney. Aydelotte and Marqwevell Cummings, 25, were charged with open murder in the case. Both suspects, and the victim, were residents of Flint.

An open murder charge allows a jury to determine whether the evidence presented at trial warrants first- or second-degree murder, or neither. Aydelotte was charged as a habitual offender. He is scheduled for sentencing June 4. The state-mandated sentence for first-degree murder is life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Cummings is scheduled for trial May 4-14, also before McGivney.
