Fired Fox 2 (WJBK-TV) anchor Taryn Asher is seen calling a co-worker a “b—-” and saying she’s “so done with her antics” in a newly surfaced behind-the-scenes video recorded at the station.
Deadline Detroit posted the video on Saturday of Asher, while taping a promo at the station, discussing a script mix-up with a co-worker off camera. The temperature of their conversation rises, although the co-worker’s words are difficult to make out in the video.
“Go ahead!” Asher can be heard saying, as the co-worker appears to be leaving the studio. “I don’t think you are,” Asher says, “you’re walking out really angry.”
After the woman appears to leave, Asher huffs, “B—-! Jeez-oh-petes.”
Asher then appears flustered over the interaction. She’s approached by another co-worker, and another can be heard in the background asking, “What the hell’s going on around here?”
“Can I please finish what I was gonna say? What the f—?” Asher says. “Grow up! I’m so done with her antics, telling on me every five seconds. I’m done.”
Asher was fired from her job as a news anchor at Fox 2 in November. She had anchored the station’s evening news broadcasts at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m.
Asher filed a federal discrimination lawsuit against Fox 2 in June, alleging that the Southfield station discriminated against her by treating her worse than co-anchor Roop Raj and terminated her contract when she complained. She claimed that new station manager Paul McGonagle, who started in the role in July 2025, favored Raj with more guest interviews and a better schedule.
The lawsuit listed Los Angeles-based Fox Television Stations, LLC and New World Communications of Detroit, which operates as WJBK-TV, as defendants. Asher wanted a money judgment for lost wages, mental and emotional distress and loss of professional reputation, plus punitive damages including costs and attorneys’ fees.
In July, Asher filed a new version of her lawsuit against the station, seeking a court order allowing her to immediately join a rival news station in the market.
Fox recently responded to the lawsuit, claiming Asher was rightfully terminated for “unprofessional workplace behavior” and “outbursts.” The new video surfaced at the same time as the Fox response.
In its response, Fox and WJBK acknowledged that Asher complained to McGonagle in November 2025 that she believed she was being treated worse than Raj, but denied both the validity of the accusation and that any retaliation occurred.
