A fire at the DTE Blue Water Energy Center is not expected to affect services to customers, according to the company.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the plant in East China Township around midnight, according to Colleen Rosso, communications manager for DTE Energy.
Rosso said the fire was extinguished by 1:30 a.m. and there were no injuries. Rosso said the fire will not affect services to the area, but that the plant will be closed while the cause is investigated and repairs are done.
The St. Clair Fire Chief Dave Westrick did not respond to calls Friday morning about the fire. Both the Marysville Fire Department and Port Huron Fire Department said they sent engines to respond to the fire, but referred questions to the St. Clair Fire Department.
