Heat wave coming to Lenawee County
A heat wave is set to hit Lenawee County soon, with dangerously high temperatures and heat indexes expected June 21-24.
At 2:51 a.m. June 20, the National Weather Service issued an extreme heat watch running early June 21 through the evening of June 24. In the release, NWS said there will be “dangerously hot conditions” with a heat index of 104 degrees possible.
The watch covers all of southeast Michigan, including Lenawee County. NWS said heat-related illnesses “increase significantly” during events of extreme heat and high humidity.
Where can you find cooling centers in Lenawee County?
Lenawee County, in a release posted June 20, said residents can find shelter during regular operating hours in their local libraries, senior centers and shopping centers, as well as Share the Warmth (427 W. Maumee St. in Adrian), which will become a designated cooling center running 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 21-25.
