Heat wave coming to Hillsdale County
A heat wave is set to hit Hillsdale County soon, with dangerously high temperatures and heat indexes expected June 21-24.
At 3:55 a.m. June 20, the National Weather Service issued an extreme heat watch running early June 21 through the evening of June 24. In the release, NWS said there will be “dangerously hot conditions” with a heat index of 106 degrees possible.
The watch covers portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio. NWS said heat-related illnesses “increase significantly” during events of extreme heat and high humidity.

According to the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency, cooling centers in Hillsdale County include the Hillsdale County Senior Center (320 Bacon St.) and The Salvation Army (160 E. Bacon St.) in Hillsdale.
