Emmet County seeks public input for master plan update

PETOSKEY — If you’d like to have a say in Emmet County’s future projects and plans, you’ll want to fill out a new community survey by Sept. 21.

Emmet County is in the process of updating its master plan, which is a long-term policy document that sets goals for how the county will develop over the next 5-10 years. The plan is used by local officials to help guide decisions on everything from how land is used to where new development may occur to how streets are designed and more.

In order to gather public input on these important decisions, a community survey is now open. The survey can be completed online at surveymonkey.com/r/EmmetPlan2025 or printed copies are available at the Emmet County Planning and Zoning Office, located at 3434 Harbor-Petoskey Road, Suite E, in Harbor Springs. The online survey will be available through Sept. 21.

“Community members have a variety of opinions about how Emmet County should look and feel in the future and what our biggest needs are,” said Tammy Doernenburg, Emmet County Planning and Zoning director, in a county release. “This survey provides a chance to share your vision before any decisions have been made, and to really be a part of the planning process. We look forward to reading what community members share in this questionnaire, and we encourage everyone to participate.”
