Eminem’s ex-wife, who has been battling legal issues related to allegations of drunken driving, reportedly was hospitalized Saturday after becoming unconscious or fainting.
TMZ reported the incident Tuesday after receiving photos and video showing Kim Scott, formerly known as Kim Mathers, the Detroit rapper’s 51-year-old ex, being tended to by first responders.
The footage shows a woman, identified by TMZ as Scott, on a gurney and being rolled away from a home and toward an ambulance.
Scott was transported from her Chesterfield Township home to McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, TMZ reported. Her condition as of Tuesday wasn’t immediately known.
Dispatchers had received a report that Scott was “unconscious/fainting,” around 8 p.m. Saturday, TMZ reported.
The hospitalization comes as Scott deals with legal issues.
In June, she failed to appear in a New Baltimore courtroom for a sentencing and a hearing in two separate drunk driving cases, according to the court.
Scott was due to be sentenced for a February incident in which she was charged with driving drunk and involved in a hit-and-run crash. On May 11, she pleaded no contest to operating while impaired and failure to stop after a collision, offenses punishable by no more than 93 days in jail.
She also was due to have a check-in hearing for a separate drunk driving charge from an incident two days after she pleaded no contest in the first case. Scott was charged with operating while intoxicated, third offense, which is a felony, and she was facing up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. Body cam footage from the incident shows her being told by an officer, “You’re slurring really bad.”
Scott ran into legal issues more than a decade ago. In October 2015, she drove a Cadillac Escalade into a utility pole and ultimately into a ditch at 23 Mile and Card roads in Macomb Township. The court case records were sealed, but she later told a Detroit radio show host the crash was a suicide attempt. She admitted to drinking a fifth of Malibu rum prior to the crash; she was sentenced to a fine and probation.
In 2003, she was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance of less than 25 grams and driving with a license suspended, revoked, or denied. In 2004, she was found in violation of probation on the drug charges and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 90 days in a drug rehabilitation program.
Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, first married Scott in 1999 and they divorced several years later. They reconciled and remarried in January 2006, but he filed for a divorce that April.
The pair has a daughter, Hailie, who is a frequent subject in Eminem’s music.
