“Right now we’re just trying to find jobs for all our staff,” owner Ryan Clift said.

The Clyde Township restaurant, which caught fire on July 5, has been closed ever since. The owners still have no timetable as to when it might reopen.

On Monday, July 13, the business put out a call on social media asking for other restaurants or bars to consider its staff if they were hiring.

“If you know of restaurants and bars that are hiring servers, bartenders, hosts, expo, and kitchen staff, let us know here,” the Facebook post stated. “It helps to have a quick reference page so we can help our team get back to work right away.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Clyde Township Fire Department Chief David Dortman did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday, July 14 as to the state of the investigation.

The fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. on July 5. No one besides Clift was inside as the restaurant had temporarily closed down for renovations. No injuries were reported from the fire.

Clift and his wife are continuing to assess how long repairs will take. In addition to shutting down business, they also donated the restaurant’s food to Mid-City Nutrition, to avoid it going to waste.

The modern Dorsey House was built in 1997. Before it, a different building stood in that location from 1845 until it was demolished in 1995. That original building stood as a halfway house between Port Huron and Yale.
