Justin Steinman concluded his high school career with a medalist finish at the Division 2 state golf finals.
And that championship ending helped the DeWitt senior earn top statewide recognition.
Steinman led Greater Lansing’s all-state selections by being named to the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association’s Super Team. Steinman was one of eight golfers named to the Super Team, which was headlined by Mr. Golf winner Ben Vento of Rochester Adams.
Steinman, who is signed to continue his golf career at Saginaw Valley State, had a 73.2 stroke average in 18-hole events, 38.6 for nine-hole rounds and finished in the top 10 in each of the nine invitationals he competed in this spring.
DeWitt had two players receive all-state recognition as senior Myles Smith earned honorable mention accolades in Division 2. Smith placed 19th at the Division 2 state finals.
Grand Ledge, Mason, Bath and Lansing Christian also had all-state selections.
Grand Ledge’s Christian Helzer was an honorable mention all-state selection in Division 1. The senior finished tied for seventh at the Division 1 finals. Mason senior Zach Wells earned Division 2 honorable mention all-state accolades.
Bath junior Max McCallister, who was the CMAC champion, was recognized as honorable mention all-state in Division 3. Lansing Christian sophomore Ben Rottman was selected Division 4 honorable mention all-state.
