Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day: How you can help

MONROE COUNTY, MI — Whether it’s Superman Cake Batter Cookie Dough or an Oreo Dirt Pie, Dairy Queen Blizzard Treats sold on Thursday, July 31, Miracle Treat Day, will help children’s healthcare.

Participating DQ locations in Southeast Michigan will donate $1 or more to Corewell Health Children’s including two locations in Monroe County, Monroe’s Dairy Queen Grill & Chill at 1390 N. Telegraph Road and Dundee’s store at 606 Tecumseh St.

Manager Joshua Grundman says Monroe’s restaurant is gearing up for the event. The store will serve customers from 10 a.m. to midnight.

“Top flavors are our Oreo or our Royal New York Cheesecake,” he said. “One I would recommend is the Oreo Fudge Brownie. It’s not advertised but it’s my favorite and I always recommend it to people.”

Grundman said participating in events like Miracle Treat Day allow “everyone to come together for a common cause.”

Since the store opened in 2021, Dundee’s Dairy Queen has been involved with the fundraiser and will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Miracle Treat Day.

“Customers are very grateful they are able to help,” said Jody Stewart, general manager at the Dundee location. “For Blizzards, our customers like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, strawberry cheesecake and Superman, the one that just came out. We get a lot of people in on Miracle Treat Day. It’s one of my busiest days.”

For a limited time, some new flavors have been added to the menu like Superman Cake Batter Cookie Dough, S’mores, Dipped Strawberry Cheesecake, Mixing Bowl Mashup Blizzard and Oreo Dirt Pie.

One hundred percent of donations raised in Southeast Michigan stay local and fund programs and services, vital pediatric equipment and therapies for the more than 200,000 children treated each year at Corewell Health Children’s in metro Detroit, according to a news release.

The efforts of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization dedicated to children’s healthcare, provides more than 32 million treatments to children each year.

Since 1988, Corewell Health Children’s has been the only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in the seven-county area of Southeast Michigan. Miracle Treat Day was created in August 2006.

DQ stores have donated more than $1.14 million to pediatric programs at Corewell Health Children’s through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaigns.
