Bud Light releases new Lions-themed cans: Here's what they look like

If it seems like you can slap a Detroit Lions logo on anything these days, you’re probably not far from the truth.

As part of Bud Light’s advertising campaign for the 2025 NFL season, fans can buy special editions of the beer featuring the Lions logo on a black can. The cans also feature a QR code that links people to potential prizes like game tickets and merchandise.

Bud Light is the official beer sponsor of the NFL, but it has historically not been the most popular beer in Michigan. And according to one study, the state’s most popular beer may not be what you think.

According to a 2025 study from coffee enthusiast site Coffeeness, which uses data from Google Trends and YouGov to compile a list of most popular beers by state, Michigan’s favorite beer is Coors. That makes them just one of eight states nationwide (and the only one in the Midwest, unless you count Pennsylvania) with Coors as its favorite beer.

That could surprise many Midwesterners, as Miller came in at No. 1 as the most popular beer in 30 of the 50 U.S. states. Bud Light is the most popular beer in only two U.S. states (Ohio and North Carolina), which is curiously one fewer state than Guinness claims (New Jersey, South Carolina and Georgia).

What does this have to do with the Lions Bud Light cans? Not much — but maybe you can take this trivia to your next tailgate.
