A community engagement professional has been appointed to serve on the Howell Public Schools Board of Education until November.
Officials voted to appoint Breanne Green during a special meeting June 15, according to a community announcement. She replaces Steve Dault, who resigned for personal reasons in May. Dault was elected to the board in November 2024.
Green will serve through the election Nov. 3, when voters will select a candidate to complete the remainder of Dault’s term — which runs through 2030.
Green has lived in Howell since 2012 and works as a community engagement professional, according to HPS. She has experience in strategic planning, systems improvement and collaborative leadership. She’s been involved with the district through booster organizations, district committees, school improvement efforts, parent advisory groups, PTO and the Bond Leadership Team. She’s the parent of an alum and a junior at Howell High School.
Other candidates for the role included Brandon Barefield, Stephanie Carney, Joe Cartwright, Adam Doby, Carrie Fairbanks, Green, Carolyn Glogoski, Stephanie Leitch, J.J. Lewis, Mathew Lovrenich and Stephanie Schlittler-Gutting.
Each candidate submitted a letter of interest and responses to qualifying questions, according to HPS. During a meeting June 8, candidates made brief statements to the board and responded to additional questions.
Officials ranked their top candidates June 15, narrowing the field to three finalists. After discussion, the board conducted a second and third round of rankings. Green received the highest ranking in the third round.
