A northeast Michigan community lost a longtime lakeside hangout known for its atmosphere and performances by well-known singers.
The Long Lake Bar & Grill in Long Lake in Iosco County was destroyed by fire Monday, March 16, the nearby Londo Lakes Store — and many others — said on Facebook Monday evening while posting images of the blaze.
Patrons mourned the loss of their beloved restaurant in posts and comments in the Facebook group, “Fans of the Long Lake Bar and Grill.” A March 17 post shared a message of appreciation for local firefighters who responded to the blaze, signed “love the owner and staff.”
Local fire officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
Known for serving burgers, pizzas and drinks, the local establishment also hosted many celebrity guests over the years, Pure Michigan said.
Singer Uncle Kracker, born Matthew Shafer in Mount Clemens, featured the restaurant in the music video for his 2009 song “Smile,” on his “Happy Hour” album.
Long Lake Bar & Grill was located on the west end of Long Lake in Iosco County’s Plainfield Township, about 31 miles west of Oscoda.
