They said troopers from the Brighton Post were called at about 7 p.m. Wednesday to Rosemary Lane in Brighton Township for a report of an attempted child abduction.

Troopers spoke to a man who told them that his daughter was riding her bicycle when an adult male approached her, according to authorities. The father told police the man appeared to be a traveling salesman who was going door-to-door, they said.

The suspect fled the area, and troopers were unable to locate him after a search, police said.

Investigators said the suspect asked the girl to accompany him into the nearby woods, and he would give her a surprise.

He then allegedly tried to lure the girl into the woods before her father confronted the man and questioned him, detectives said. Police said the suspect fled on a “Segway-type” vehicle.

State police said the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about it or the suspect should call the Brighton Post at (810) 227-1051.
