At least 14 bridges across eight Michigan counties have closed or failed as of Thursday afternoon, April 16, due to recent flooding, according to a Department of Transportation spokesperson.
The bridges located in Arenac, Muskegon, Manistee, Grand Traverse, Oakland, Osceola, Menominee and Midland have closed due to rising water levels.

The two failed bridges include the Beitner Road bridge over the Boardman River in Grand Traverse County, south of Traverse City, and Johnson Road over Big Bear Creek in Manistee County, both of which had been closed prior to failure, according to MDOT.
The count includes structures that are 20 feet or longer on public roads. It does not include road or culvert closures due to recent flooding, MDOT says.
The State Emergency Operations Center is maintaining a website with a map showing state highway and local road closures due to flooding and washouts.
