Adrian's Ella Salenbien named Sunny Skies Athlete of the Week

ADRIAN — It has been a winter of records set and broken, as numerous records on the courts, mats, lanes, and pools have fallen across the county. One of those records was broken just last week and serves as the reasoning for this week’s The Daily Telegram Sunny Skies Athlete of the Week.

Adrian senior Ella Salenbien has been a fixture on the Maples roster since stepping foot on the court in her freshman year and she has dominated down in the paint ever since. How do we know that you ask? Well, she did just break the Adrian High School record for most rebounds in a career, doing so in a game on the hardwood versus Chelsea. With her nine rebounds, Salenbien officially moved into first place on the all-time rebounding list with 802. With the effort Salenbien broke the previous record held by Rhonda (Moorehead) Hubbard of 800 career rebounds.

While Salenbien has since added more rebounds to her career mark, only pushing herself further into first place, the Maples continue to chase down success as the regular season comes to a close.

Congratulations goes out once again to Adrian senior Ella Salenbien, this week’s The Daily Telegram Sunny Skies Athlete of the Week.
