A busy portion of Grand River Avenue in Brighton will close for multiple weeks this summer as a lengthy, ongoing construction project continues.
The full closure will impact Grand River Avenue between Nemco Way and Hilton Road, as construction crews rebuild the I-96 interchange to improve safety and traffic flow. The closure is tentatively scheduled to begin June 25, according to updates on the I-96 Brighton Project Page.
In total, the project will replace two structures along I-96, including two bridges over Grand River Avenue. During the upcoming closure, the on and off ramps for eastbound I-96 will remain open, and the westbound I-96 off ramp will remain open to eastbound traffic.
Traffic will be detoured along eastbound I-96, Spencer Road, Old US-23 and Hilton Road. The closure will be in place for roughly two months.
