A look at the top high school sports performers of the week for June 2-6

The spring season is over for Holland-area high school sports.

Here is a look at the top performers of the final week:

Andrew Legg, Holland golf

The Dutch senior shot a 158 (80-78) at the Division 2 state golf finals to lead Holland at its first state tournament appearance since 2003.

Linus VandenBerg, Holland Christian golf

The Maroons golfer finished 11th at the Division 2 state tournament. Competing as an individual, VandenBerg shot at 149 (74-75) on Saturday, June 6, at The Meadows.

Will Nagelvoort, West Ottawa golf

The Panther fired a two-round score of 145 (72-73) to finish tied for seventh at the Division 1 state finals on Saturday, June 6, earning all-state honors.

Grant Schrotenboer, Saugatuck golf

The Trailblazer earned all-state with a sixth-place finish at the Division 3 state tournament. He shot a 153 (84-69) and was the only golfer in the field to break 70 in the second round on Saturday, June 6.

Jordan Sanders, Saugatuck soccer

The Saugatuck forward scored two goals to lead the Trailblazers to their first-ever regional semifinal win. Saugatuck reached the regional final for the first time in school history.

Braison Jones, Saugatuck baseball

The Trailblazers slugger launched a two-run home run against Kalamazoo Christian in the Division 4 regional semifinals on Wednesday, June 3. Saugatuck lost the game but reached regionals for the first time in a decade.

Aneliece Yin, Zeeland West tennis

The Dux sophomore reached the Division 2 state semifinals at No. 4 singles. It is the farthest any Dux have ever gotten at the state tournament and led Zeeland West to a ninth-place finish in its first trip to state as a team.

Hope Bruinsma and Lily Wierenga, Holland Christian tennis

The Maroons No. 2 doubles team reached the state semifinals at the Division 3 state tournament on June 5-6 at the Midland Tennis Center to lead Holland Christian to a sixth-place finish as a team.

Eran Meiste and Sophia Blauwkamp, Hamilton tennis

The Hawkeyes No. 1 doubles pair reached the state quarterfinals at the Division 3 state tournament on June 5-6 at the Midland Tennis Center to lead Hamilton to a ninth-place finish.
