Will Heckman fired a 69 at Turnberry Golf Course to take medalist honors on Aug. 3, leading the Granville boys golf team to the championship during the Pickerington Central Tiger Invitational.
Heckman recorded five birdies while shooting 3-under par. The Blue Aces totaled 302, finishing ahead of runner-up St. Charles’ 309 and Hilliard Darby and Mount Vernon, who each shot 311.
Todd Dao added a 73 to place third, Hudson Hall 78 in a tie for 17th and Stevie Joseph 82 in a tie for 34th for Granville.
Newark’s Grady Fields shot 77 to tie for 14th. Jaden Sines added 79 to tie for 23rd and Collin Read and Will Bolte 83 apiece in a tie for 39th for the Wildcats, who totaled 322 to tie for seventh.
Liberty wins first MOCAL
Liberty Christian totaled a 186 at Cumberland Trail on July 30 to win the first Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League nine-hole tournament of the season.
M.J. Glenn fired a 42 to lead the Eagles. Dawson Kamppi added a 44 and Miles Glenn and Becket Dotson 50 apiece.
Matthew Riedel fired a 40 for Granville Christian to take medalist honors. The Lions totaled 189 to take runner-up in the team standings as Jordan Stump and Tyler Hackler added 48 apiece.
