The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Michigan, except for three counties in the western Upper Peninsula, where the polls close at 9 p.m. Eastern time.
Those who vote in person are required to have valid identification. Those without identification can still cast a ballot that will be counted on Election Day by signing an affidavit stating the voter is not in possession of a valid photo ID.

Using drop boxes and returning absentee ballots
Voters can also drop off their ballots at drop boxes provided by their clerks until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Absentee ballots must be returned to the local clerk’s office before the polls close. Registered voters can find out their voting place, clerk’s office, registration status and a sample ballot at Michigan.gov/vote.

Unregistered individuals can register in person to vote on Election Day by visiting their local clerk’s office and casting an absentee ballot. Registered voters who have not updated their registration to their current address after moving must go to their local clerk’s office to register and may also use an absentee ballot, according to the Michigan Secretary of State’s office.

Voters are allowed to show the physical proof of their participation in the election by posting a “ballot selfie.”
Under a legal settlement, Michigan voters are allowed to take a photo of their ballot while in the voting booth.

People with disabilities can request assistance with completing their ballots. If you require assistance casting a ballot, you may ask another person to assist you in completing it. But under state law, the assisting person cannot be:
