9 injured, including 4 police, in semi-truck crash in Canton Twp.

CANTON TWP. — Nine people, including four police officers, were injured Wednesday, March 18 in a serious crash involving a semi-truck at the intersection of Ford and Haggerty roads, Canton police said.

Emergency crews remain on scene as of 3:30 p.m. March 18, continuing their investigation and cleanup efforts following the crash, which shut down the intersection in all directions.

Five injured were occupants of the vehicles involved in the crash, while four were police officers who were hurt while working to rescue trapped occupants, police said.

The injuries range from minor to critical, and all nine individuals were taken to area hospitals.

The intersection is expected to remain closed for several more hours as crews continue their work. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
